One of the biggest projects I’ve had the opportunity to work on is the upcoming Netflix series Amsterdam Empire — a Dutch-language crime drama starring Jacob Derwig and Famke Janssen. The show released on October 30th 2025.
I’d love to share more about my work and what the process was like, but I can’t say too much yet due to NDA and paywall reasons. For now, I can show you what Netflix has already released — a short teaser that gives the first glimpse of the series.
During my internship at World of Paint Studios, I had the opportunity to work on the Netflix series as an assistant composer. I contributed to multiple aspects of the series’ score, including playing synths, singing, and whistling on several tracks. My work involved developing melodies and thematic material, assisting with the arrangement and production of cues, and even music supervision, testing different licensed tracks under the same scene. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the demands of scoring a high-profile international series, collaborating closely with both creative directors and technical teams.

For me, Amsterdam Empire represented a milestone in my early career: my first major series project, bridging my independent composing experience with the collaborative environment of a large production. It also reinforced my commitment to creating music that enhances story and character, inspired by analogue textures and subtle synth-driven motifs rather than traditional orchestral dramatics.

For now: You can watch the official teaser for the Netflix series on the bottom of this page, featuring the song Forever Pour Toujours! Kai (Palmbomen II) had already written and recorded the track when I joined the project, but I spent months working on it — producing and refining the vocals until they felt just right.
